The sound insulating collar (1) may be used on pipes which are required to transmit sound and includes a band (4) which is clipped circumferentially around the pipe (2). The band (4) has an internal face with transverse uniform 'V' section grooves (3) or similar at regular intervals. The grooves (3) form a cushion of air between the collar (1) and the pipe (2). The band (4) may be of flexible material capable of forming into rolls, and the ribs forming the grooves (3) may be of triangular or truncated triangular cross-section. The band forms a sleeve between the collar and the pipe and may include an integral eyelet (5) for a clipped lapped end-anchorage.
