PURPOSE:To form a uniform fluorocarbon polymer layer on the surface of an article with ease by a method wherein a thermofusible fluorocarbon polymer is temporarily adhered onto a substrate made of polytetrafluoroethylene and treated under specified conditions to be transferred onto the surface of an article. CONSTITUTION:A liquid dispersion of a thermofusible fluorocarbon (FC) polymer is applied on a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrate, and heated to a temperature above the softening point of the FC polymer but below m.p. of PTFE, to form a composite body comprising an FC polymer layer temporarily adhered onto the substrate. With the polymer layer of the composite body held in contact with the surface of an article, the body is heated to a temperature above the softening point of the FC polymer but below m.p. of PTFE and pressed against the article, to transfer the polymer layer onto the surface of the article. Then, after cooling, the substrate is stripped off, to form FC polymer layer on the surface of the article. |
