A yarn tension device for sewing machines comprises two discs 2, 9 loaded by a spring 5 to engage the thread 7 and adapted to be released on operation of a solenoid 12 acting on disc 9 through a lever 8 pivoted at 17, the arm of the lever nearer the solenoid being longer than that nearer the discs and preferably in the ratio of 3:1. The disc 9 may be formed integrally with the arm 8.</p> |
