SULPHONIC ACIDS AND SULPHONATES

Alkaryl sulphonic acids containing at least 1% by weight of an olefin based on the weight of the sulphonic acid. The incorporation of an olefin - and, optionally, water - in the acid alleviates problems of undesirable colour development and also simplifies or eliminates the purification procedures conventionally required for these acids. Thermal stability may also be improved.
