Proposed as a starting material for the production of shuttles is an elongate prismatic profiled body (1) which is composed of a plurality of textile-fabric layers connected to one another by means of resin binders. In the profiled body (1), a distinction is made between a base cross-sectional part (1a), a middle cross-sectional part (1b) and a covering part (1c) which are respectively formed by the textile-fabric layers and which are connected to one another in one piece. A reinforcing layer (2, 2') consisting of carbon fibres, boron fibres or fibres composed of an aromatic polyamide, to form stress reinforcements, is incorporated respectively in the transitional region between the said cross-sectional parts (1a, 1b, 1c). Profiled bodies constructed in this way make it possible to produce relatively thin-walled and therefore light shuttles. <IMAGE>
