In CCITT code no. 2, letters and numbers are differentiated by means of a case-shift signal. In order to satisfy the need for an increase in the character set, an additional case-shift signal is implemented by means of the key (3). If the hitherto normal case-shift signal characterises letter-shift signals in lower case, the additional case-shift signal characterises the first following letter-shift signal and only this as a letter-shift signal in upper case. <IMAGE> |
