<p>1,150,990. Polyamides. STAMICARBON N.V. 19 June, 1967 [22 June, 1966], No. 28238/67. Heading C3R. Polyamides are prepared from 7-amino-4- thia-oenanthic acid. Polymerization may be effected in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. sulphuric, acetic or phosphoric acid or tributyl phosphate, and of 0À1 to 5 mole per cent of a polyamine to improve the viscosity. Specified polyamines are tetra- and hexa-methylene diamines, 1,2-bis(aminomethyl)cyclobutane, 1,4- bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane, diethylene triamine and 1,2,4,5-tetraminopentane. The polyamides melt at 190‹ to 200‹ C; in examples polyamides having intrinsic viscosities (in mcresol at 25‹ C.) ranging from 0À5 to 1À8 are prepared, the higher values being obtained either by including a polyamine or by advancing the polymerization of a solid polymer by heating it below the M.P. The products are suitable for film or fibres.</p> |
