PURPOSE:To shorten the production process of the air conditioner outer case by manufacturing both front and rear portions, rear panel, top panel and bottom panel integrally with each other by forming in the die a groove of the same sectional shape as the outer case and cutting the elongated blank extruded from said groove. CONSTITUTION:A groove 2 of the same sectional shape as the outer case is formed in te die 3. In this forming operation, the casing 15 comprising the supporting means 10, 11 for a heat exchanger 8 and a drip pan 9, a tongue portion 13 corresponding to a circulating-air fan 12 and a scroll portion 14 and an engaging piece 16 for sealing the outer case are formed simultaneously. An outer case material is extruded from the groove by a press in the direction of arrow to form an elongated blank and this blank is cut to a length corresponding to the size of the instrument to be inserted, and then air holes 6 are formed in the front panel 5 by secondary press working to obtain the outer case 1 which is open at its both sides. Air conditioner elements are slidingly inserted into the case from the openings and then the openings are covered with the separately molded side panels 20, 21 to complete the casing. |
