The linear or angular values are converted into a code signal which uses a combination of four switching signals for each decimal place, each signal corresponding to one optical or electrical probe element, with the switching element associated with each of the latter, having a direct and an inverse output for the switch signal. The number 0 for an odd number and the number 9 for an even number are provided by connecting the coupling elements of the next highest stage with the similar switch outputs and the number 0 for an even number and 9 for an odd number by using the other similar outputs, with an individual coupling element for the numbers 1 to 8. |
