The points of rail tracks for tramways are manoeuvred by hydraulic circuit operating mechanical transmission. An electrical or electronic circuit provides control and signalling for the points mechanism. The points (4) of a tramway (7) are controlled by a piston (20) with shafts (21) in a cylinder (19). Hydraulic pressure is obtained from a motor driven pump with filtering and pressure limiting via an accumulator. Electrovalves control hydraulic distribution to the piston cylinder. The piston shafts are adjustable (23) in length and drive mechanical transmission shafts (25) via flexible couplings (24). Couplings and adjusters are enclosed by sealing covers (26).
