The collapsible caravan is of a rigid foldable construction, comprising a high box base (1) with an open top which supports a superstructure with a folding portal frame construction. It incorporates gas struts (10) or similar which facilitate the extension operation. The legs of the portal frame constitute the walls (6) of the superstructure and pivot about the horizontal top edges of the base box. They occupy half the width of the van when folded flat, and both slide and pivot relative to a contiguous flat roof panel (7). The gas struts act as an inclined stay between the base box and the vertical extended upper wall panels, being housed (13, 14, 18) and concealed entirely within the walls of the van whether in the extended or collapsed state.
|
