PURPOSE:To enhance the toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of a sintered body without lowering the hardness by dispersion-strengthening the matrix consisting of Al2O3 and TiN with metallic Ti. CONSTITUTION:Metallic Ti is mixed into Al2O3 60-95wt% and TiN as principal components in a TiN to Ti ratio of 1-7. This mixt. is finely pulverized, molded, and sintered to obtain a ceramic sintered body having three-dimensional network structure in which metallic Ti has independently dispersed in fine Al2O3 particles and TiN particles. This body has enhanced toughness, improved breaking and wear resistances, and superior machinability. |
