The typewriter keyboard has coding slides for the keys, there being for each of the latter a baffle-type slide (2) and a selector spring (3). The key (1) slides vertically in a frame (4), and has two pins (6) on lateral arms, engaging in slots (7) in the slide, so that the latter can move freely in the horizontal direction, but must move with the key in the vertical direction, being adjustable along a closed curved track. The slide has masking tongues (8) briefly covering light apertures (9) when the key is actuated, and which can be broken off at their bases as desired.
