<p>Feed-roller assemblies comprising >=2 rollers around which a tow or sliver is partially wrapped have a series of air jets directed onto the roller surfaces to prevent lapping of loose fibres or filament ends. Jets directed against the section of a roller covered by the tow or sliver are oriented in the direction of motion, whilst jets directed against uncovered sections are oriented in opposition to the direction of motion. further jets may be directed against the line of contact between two rollers to promote the complete transfer of material from one to the other. The jets prevent the formation of roller laps, whilst actively assisting the transport of the fibrous material and are partic. useful in the breaking zone of a stretch-break tow converter.</p> |
