The actual guard (6) which prevents the spray from splashing stockings, trousers etc. is fastened to a clamp (4) which can be fixed on the shoe heel or on the rear end of the shoe. The guard (6) which is preferably made of a transparent colourless material protrudes backwards and if required sideways beyond the clamping jaws (5) of the clamp which in turn can be formed by a horse-shoe shaped resilient steel band. The clamp (4) can be riveted (10) at its apex to a bracket plate (8) projecting from the plane of the guard (6). The clamp could where necessary be clipped on round the ankle.
