The folding air ducts are used in mines. At each end support is provided by a pipe socket. It is provided from inside by a radially adjustable coupling ring with an outward arched seam. The outside sealing (14) for this is mounted between overlapping ends (9, 10) of the ring (8), on part of its length. One clamping bolt, at least between adjacent seams in the ring centre passes through the overlapped ring ends. This permits the duct material itself to serve as sealing material, and the overall work involved is reduced.
