Locking ring for chuck of small high speed drill - has spring loaded balls which create axial force on drill shank collar

A small high speed electric power tool has a drill with a pressed on collar. The shank of the drill fits in a chuck with spring fingers. Any tendency of the drill to slip during operation is prevented by steel balls which are held in radial holes in the housing. These balls engage slots in the collar and slots in the locking ring. The locking ring is subjected to an axial force by the disc springs which exerts a radial force on the balls. The radial force on the balls then creates an inward axial force on the collar.
