<p>An acidic aq. composition for imparting chromate conversion coating to Al surfaces consists of 0.03-3.0 g/l Zn, 0.01-10.0 g/l Cr6 0.01-10.0 g/l F- and 0.02-3.0 g/l molybdate calculated as Mo). Enhanced corrosion resistance and paint adhesion achieved without detrimental pollution problems are provided. The composition usually contains ZnO, CrO3, H2S1F6 and molybdate as 84% molybdic acid which also contains HNO3. It is usually applied as diluted soln. by immersion or spray night at 160 degrees F pH is usually 0-5.5.</p> |
