<p>The indicator is for a simulator depicting a scene with targets and surroundings as appearing in a submarine periscope on a monitor with grid. A computer forms a picture from components fed in at different scales on which the details are dependent, and other data concerning targets, characteristics of individual ships and bearings is also fed in. The number of details shown is reduced with the scale. On a second monitor with a similar grid a section of the scene can be depicted in greater detail, this being faded into an observation lens for the first monitor at the scale of the scene. The first monitor (1) is directly in line with the observation tube (2), whilst the second monitor (10) is on the same optical axis of a diminishing unit (12) and has the light beam deflected by two 45 deg. angle mirrors.</p> |
