The packaging container is made from stiff yet flexible material such as foil or carton consisting of a cover sleeve open on two opposite front sides which have a polygon cross section. The front edges are formed by flanges turned inwards and with an insert section which can be slid into the cover sleeve from the front sides and which is fixed in the fully inserted position behind the flanged edges. One of the side walls of the cover sleeve is made double layered with both layers of this side wall being connected to each other by a gripping together of the flanged edges carried out by a flexible deformation of the flanges. There is also a locking device to prevent any parallel movement of the two layers relative to each other.
