Apparatus for changing the workpiece carriers (7, 8) of a machine tool in which the workpiece carriers are transposed between a machine table (3) and a stand-by station (4) by a changer (5), the apparatus including a workpiece carrier centering device (11, 12) which is in two halves, one of which (12) is separately attached to each workpiece carrier (7, 8) and the other of which (11) is mounted on the machine table (3), the halves being movable axially relative to each other to engage or disengage the centering device, a lifting device (14) operable to engage and disengage the centering device (11, 12) and to rotate and index the workpiece carrier received on the machine table (3), the lifting and lowering movement of the lifting device (14) being supplemented by similar movements of the changer (5) in the same direction and clamping elements (23) operable independently of the changer (5) to releasably clamp a workpiece carrier on the machine table (3). A two-armed changer fork (6) supporting the carriers (7, 8) may be lifted and rotated to effect the carrier transpositioning. <IMAGE> |
