Luminescent substance consisting of an alkaline earth metal thiogallate activated by europium, characterised in that it corresponds to the general formula : [(M1-y Mgy )1-d . a(Ga1-z Bz )2 ]X1+3a :Eud in which M represents at least one alkaline earth element chosen from the group comprising Ca, Sr and Ba, y is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 0.7 (0.0 =< y =< 0.7), a is greater than or equal to 0.8 and is different from 1 when y=0, z is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to y (0 =< z =< y), X represents sulphur or a mixture of sulphur and oxygen and d is a number chosen so as to produce the desired luminescence when the luminescent substance is subjected to an exciting incident energy.</p> |
