[Also in Division F4] A motor vehicle headlamp comprises a concave reflector sealed to a front lens, a filament in the region of the focus and arranged transversely to the axis, a second filament parallel to the axis and in front of the focus and a screen below the second filament which is horizontal on area side and tilted down on the other side of the filament, the area of the front lens in front of and above the tilted part of the screen being shaped to form a series of prisms which cause the light from the second filament passing the area to form an intense spot of light directed down and to the right of the axis. The front lens is divided into zones A-N, Fig. 1, having specified degrees of vertical and horizontal bending and of light spread. Zone M, which is defined at its lower edge by a line inclined at 15 degrees to the horizontal, corresponding to the tilted part of the screen, is provided with a series of parallel prisms which form the intense spot of light. The rest of the lens is shaped to provide a series of parallel concavities.</p> |
