<p>Floating matter which adheres to the walls of a settling or flocculation tank and of the draining gutter for the clarified water, in an installation for removing the suspended matter from sewage water, is removed by periodically setting the liquid in the tank, at the point of adhesion, in intensified motion. The tank has a feed for the suspended matter and a rotary scraper for deposited matter hanging from a bridge. For pref. the intensified motion of the fluid and a swilling effect are obtained by jets of fluid. Used to remove the algae which tend to form on the tank and gutter walls where there is only slow motion in the fluid. The adhering substances are only lightly attached to the surfaces and can be removed with very little force and without the inconvenience of brushes, etc.</p> |
