Title compds. (I, R = ethyl, propyl, alkyl; R1 = C1-4 alkyl, CF3, difluoromethyl, methylsulfonyl, sulfamoyl), useful as herbicides, were prepd. by reacting dinitrobezenes(II, x = Cl, halogen) with amines(III) at 0-100≦̸C for 1-24 hr in organic solvent. Thus, 4-difluouomethyl-N-methalyl-N-propyl-2, 6-dinitroaniline was manufd. by the reaction of 4-chloro-3, 5-dinitro- , -benzofluoride with N-propylmethalylamine and triethylamine in benzene with stirring and refluxing overnight.
