<p>The rotor is for motor vehicle generators, esp. alternators, and is designed to prevent damage to the windings due to vibrations and shock. The rotor winding (5) former (4) is a U-section annulus of some hard plastic material such as polypropylene with the open end of the 'U' facing outwards. One wall of the former is extended (11a) such that it is slightly deformed and bent inwards over the windings when the former is bedded into the two halves of the rotor mass (2, 3). The second wall is extended outward as two short wings (7a) at a given number of points equispaced around the former. These form shallow cups two of which at opposite sides of the former also serve to hold guide cylinders (9) for the incoming and outgoing coil wiring (8).</p> |
