The whole surface of a sheet (1) is first printed flat, in a single operation, with marks defining many strips (2) forming the ruler bases (7). Next, these strips (2) are cut out. A shaped bar (3) is produced in order to form the top portion of the ruler and cut to the desired length. Lastly, the shaped bar (3) and the strip (2) are assembled to form the ruler. The fact of carrying out the printing operations initially avoids having to process the objects one by one and making moulds and presses adapted to one type of material of very precise dimensions and shape. <IMAGE>
