The measurement of acceleration is performed by a counter which measures absoprtion of radiation from a gamma source. The source and absorber are moved at constant velocity w.r.t. each other and the shift in absorption peak determines the acceleration. The mossbauer sources (1a, 1b) emit very monochromatic radiation in opposite directions from a central lead screen (8) and towards thin blade absorbers (2a, 2b). The sources are subjected to an alternating movement in opposing phases at constant velocity (v) from a piezoelectric element. Two identical counters (3a, 3b) measure the shifts in the absorption peaks and an amplifier circuit (9) determines and compares the difference to produce an output acceleration signal (5). To decrease noise effects the assembly is screened from electric and magnetic fields.
|
