The corrosion protection system for a vehicle radiator (10) uses a container (21) mounted on the inlet pipe (12) for the cooling water which passes through the radiator. The container is filled with a corrosion inhibitor and is fitted into one branch of a T fitting (17) inserted in the inlet pipe. The top of the container is sealed by a thin metal diaphragm which breaks due to the corrosive action of the circulating water, releasing the inhibitor so that it mixes with the water. The diaphragm is of the same material as that of the radiator, e.g. of aluminium, or copper and being thinner than that of the sheet material from which the radiator is made, breaks before the thicker material is attached. Containers can also be of other designs.
|
