The indicator indicates the focal position corresponding not to the center of the frame but to an object in the finder for autofocus video camera. A position detector (1) for detecting the position of the focus ring is connected to comparators (COMP1-4) through a memory unit (2) having focus region data. HS and VS signals are connected to clear terminals of counters (5,6) of which clock terminals are connected to an oscillator. The counters (5,6) are connected to comparators (COMP1-4) of which output terminals are connected to input terminals of AND gates (AND1-4). The AND gates are connected to an analog switch connected to an ADDER (8) with brightness terminal (Y).
