Ratchet wheel adjustment in drafting mechanisms - using jigs which permit simultaneous setting of top and bottom rollers

Ratch of a drafting mechanism is adjusted with >=2 drafting zones by releasing the fixings of the roller bearings; removing the top roller and substituting a jig which clamps the bearings to the bearings of the bottom roller, or to the bottom roller itself; adjusting the positions of the bottom roller bearings by means of rack and pinion motions to the desired values; and locking the bearings in their new positions. Adjustment of each drafting zone in turn is done progressively from front to rear zones. The procedure is simple, rapid and reliable. The result does not depend on the skill of the operative, and the accuracy of the setting is improved.
