The switch has a sprung plunger (11) acting upon a contact rocker, the plunger being mounted on a control disc (9). The latter is secured to a switch rotary axis (8) fitted orthogonally to the plane of the contact rocker. Pref. the rotary axis and the control disc are made in one piece. The design provides a high degree of security against inadvertent switching. The switch socket is pref. of rectangular plan and its bottom part has a recess retaining the rail for mounting the switch and securing it by a snap-action clamp. The transverse side of the socket has four terminals between high partitions which provide long air and creep paths. The middle part contains a contact rockers and the stationary contacts connected to the terminals. A central bore retains one end of the rotary axis whose other end carries the control disc and a rotary knob.
