The medical device has a viewing optic and a parallel optical fivre (3), with a rigid sleeve (5) attached to its end. This has apivot axis (6) extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the optical fibre (3) and which is operated by an actuating rod or wire. The extreme end of the optical fivre (3) is stripped and is inserted through a bore (8) in the rigid sleeve (5). The sheated part (2) of the optical fibre (3) is inserted through a larger aligned bore (9) in the rigid sleeve (5). The first bore (8) has an enlarged mouth, so that a gap (11) exists between the stripped end of the optical fibre (3) and the surrounding part of the rigid sleeve (5). The device allows removal of bladder tumors, without perforation of the bladder wall.
