The system separates magnetic material from a current of other material, the latter being passed along a vibratory trough and over a gap between the trough end and a magnetic drum. The drum turns in a direction opposite to that of the flow of material, and extracts the magnetic material by causing it to rise. This material is then turned so as tofree it from any non-magnetic residue attached to it.
