The device is based on an ion generator and consists of a series of gratings, each with a cathode of small surface (wires) and an anode of large surface (bars) spaced from each other. The gratings have a spacing from each other which is larger than the other spacing. All cathodes are coupled to the negative and all anodes to the positive pole of a voltage source. This achieves an adequate wind velocity, without requiring a noisy fan, and with an electrostatic field strength below the threshold at which ozone may be generated and cause a health hazard.
