Flame resistant chipboard panels are moulded by pressing a mixt. of woodchips, reaction prods. (I) of boron cpds. and sulphuric or phosphoric acid and (in)organic binder, the improvement being that the woodchips are replaced by mixt. of 50-10 wt. % fibrous material and 50-90 wt. % (I). The panels have high mechanical strength and satisfy the requirements of DIN 4102 with respect to flame retardancy. The mixt. is pref. obtd. by (1) decomposing a boron cpd. with H2SO4 in the presence of woodchips, (2) mixing dried woodchips with the dry reaction prods. of boron cpds. and H2SO4, with addition of 5-30 wt. % water or (3) mixing the moist woodchips contg. 10-250 wt.% water or (3) mixing the action prods. of boron cpds. and H2SO4.
|
