PURPOSE:To achieve the improvement in resolution by providing electrodes for nuetralization of electrostatic latent images around recording electrode. CONSTITUTION:Multiple electrodes 7a-7h for neutralization are disposed around one recording electrode 1 convered with insulator. When with this arrangement a signal voltage is applied to the recording electrode 1, the latent image 8 of a circle larger than the diameter of the recording electrode 1 is formed on the dielectric layer positioned between the recording electrode 1 and counter electrode. When the voltage of the polarity reversed from that of the voltage having been applied to the recording electrode 1 is next applied to each of the electrodes 7a-7h for neutralization, discharge is generated between part of the latent image 8 and the respective electrodes 7a-7h for neutralization and the neutralized regions 9 of the latent images are generated by as much as the electrodes 7a-7h for neutralization, thus the electrostatic latent images 10 of a diameter smaller than that of the initial latent images 8 are formed, whereby thickening of the picture elements is prevented and the resolution enhanced. |
