Home trainer pedalling machine for keep-fit purposes, has an additional facility for charging a secondary battery, during the exercise routine, for powering a t.v. receiver, or other similar electrical load. The machine comprises a large driving crank wheel (2) fitted with pedals and a drive chain (7) and a smaller cog-wheel (3). The normal commercially available bicycle wheel (1) is used to accelerate a special drive wheel arranged on the shaft of an electrical generator (4) to generate an electric current for storage in a battery (11). The stored electrical energy is recovered from the battery for the purposes of driving a t.v. receiver etc. from the plug and socket connection.
