An integrating counter produces an electrical signal corresp. to the quantity of water, gas, or other fluid medium consumed. It requires no mechanical drive coupling normally used between the flow sensor and integrating indicator. This results in higher measurement accuracy at very low flow rates and increases counter durability. Use of a light emitting element illuminates in response to the signal enables easy monitoring of the unit operation. A permanent magnet (5) is attached to the shaft of an impeller wheel (4) placed in the fluid flow path. A sensor (7) detects the wheel rotation via a deflection plate (3). Its output signal is fed to a separate storage device (8) via a cable whose output is the integral value which is displayed on an indicator mechanism (9, 10). The counter is accurately adjusted during mfr. to reduce mfg. tolerances and costs.
