Automatic control of road vehicle - using throttle controlled by determining switching rate based on effective resistance to vehicle motion

A road vehicle powered by a turbine is provided with fully automatic power control that reacts to changes in resistance to travel caused by wind resistance, inclination of road surface etc. The motor torque and speed after multiplying by the inertia, are subtracted to provide the pump impeller torque. A divider provides the ratio of motor and pump speeds, the two values address a memory providing the turbine torque. A further analogue computer calculates the dynamic condition of the vehicle to provide an output that is an indication of the change in resistance to the vehicle motor. The throttle control unit receives the value and calculates the necessary switching rate to maintain the specified road speed condition.
