A stop valve with a check valve disc for pipe systems with a forced circulation esp. for nuclear power stations, has this disc pivoted above the valve seat in such a way that the centre of gravity of the disc keeps the plane of its seating surface at an oblique angle to the vertical plane of the stationary valve seat. In this position, the free passage area amts. to 5-80% of the max. passage area when the check valve disc is fully opened by the dynamic pressure of the flowing working medium. Simple design of high functional reliability responds to the fluctuating operational conditions in nuclear power stations.
