An animal feed component is prepared by subjecting spent coffee grounds to a saponification treatment in an aqueous reaction medium, acidifying the medium to a pH below 5 and recovering an animal feed component by drying the acidified medium. The grounds may optionally be subjected to an oxidation treatment after saponification. |
