The lock part section 12a, 12b in the edge section 11 of the door can be bolted by the locking bolt 13, which is pivotably mounted in the door frame for pivoting into a locking position and released position when pivoted respectively inwards and outwards from the swing path of the door by means of an adjustment mechanism in the door frame. The bolt 13 is pivotably mounted about a vertical axis on the outer section of the door, whilst the connected actuating part 16 of the adjustment mechanism is pivotably mounted about a vertical axis on the inner section of the frame. The bolt 13 has a radially running guide slot 13e for receiving a guide part 21 on the end of the part 16. The bolt 13 extends in the locking position obliquely towards the part 12a, 12b and crosses the outer swing path of the door at a relatively small angle. The part 16 runs obliquely towards the free end of the bolt 13 and transversely to the outer swing path of the door. The locking mechanism is simple, yet at the same time robust, and can be used, for example, in doors to safes and security vaults. <IMAGE>
