<p>1439800 Dowels and rivets HILTI AG 13 Nov 1973 [18 Jan 1973] 19251/74 Divided out of 1439799 Heading F2H An expanding dowel 5, particularly for fastening a repair plate 3 to a mould wall 1, comprises a substantially cylindrical shank 6 having an axial bore 9 with a cylindrical rear part 10 and a forwardly tapering front part 11, and an expansion element (14, 15, 17, Fig. 3, not shown) for driving into the bore 9 through the part 10 into the part 11 to expand the dowel to secure it in a prepared recess 2, the dowel having a retaining formation, e.g. a flange 7 or a nut threaded thereon, limiting its depth of insertion and a recess 8 for engagement by the muzzle of an explosive powered tool for driving the expansion element into the bore 9. To facilitate the expansion the shank 6 has radial slots 12 extending over substantially the length of the tapering part 11 of the bore 9.</p> |
