The equipment removes foreign bodies from offset printing plates, and comprises a retractable knife (6) in the path of each of the plates (1-4) printing the different colours. Each knife is movable sideways in relation to the plate and parallel to its axis of rotation, its width being at least equal to the band of ink metered by one of the inking valves. The knife locking positions can each coincide with one of the valves, it being typically controlled by an electric magnet causing it to rub against the plate or move clear of it.
