The test system has several parallel circuits each with an indicator lamp and a monitoring switch. An indicator lamp is switched on via a single test switch only when the function monitored by it is correct. The monitoring switches in series with the lamps are open when the functions being monitored are correct. These monitoring switches (3) are connected in parallel with the series combination of lamp (6) and test switch(5). The lamps may be LED of different colours. Several monitoring switches may be connected in parallel with one another and in series with the same indicator lamp. A warning lamps or LED(8) may be connected in series with the parallel combinations. The monitoring functions are typically for the coolant water circuit, brake fluid level, engine oil level or brake fluid pressure.
