<p>The packages are sprayed with and/or immersed in chilled water, pref. at a temp. between 0.5 degrees C and 2.0 degrees C. The chilled water is pref. derived from an accumulation of ice built up during night hours. The installation pref. comprises a vapour compression refrigeration plant of which the evaporator is used to build ice to provide chilled water in a supply tank. A pump transfer water from the supply tank to a refrigeration chamber in which the packaged prods. are enclosed for cooling. Water draining from the refrigeration chamber is returned to the supply tank via the evaporator/ice compartment. Within the refrigeration chamber, the packages are pref. carried on spaced, horizontal grills.</p> |
