For the preparation of the acetylhydrazone of 2-quinoxaline-carboxaldehyde N,N'-dioxide of the structural formula (I) <IMAGE> the reaction, in particular in aqueous solution, of 2-quinoxaline-carboxaldehyde N,N'-dioxide with monoacetylhydrazine in equivalent proportions, and preferably with a slight excess of the latter, is provided. The abovementioned compound shows an antibacterial action against Vibrio cholerae.
