<p>Hydrated materials partic. of clay, which constitute areas of land, are treated with sulphonated heterocyclic bases to make them permeable. The treatment promotes drainage. The sulphonated heterocyclic bases are partic. sulphonated pyridic bases and are generally used in aq. soln. to which sulphuric acid and possibly a surface active agent are added. The materials treated are e.g. phyllosilicates with clay structure, aluminous minerals such as aluminous laterites or bauxites, or ferric minerals such as ferric laterities.</p> |
