<p>The end of the seat belt strap has a lock plate engaging with a lock (22). The lock (22) is fitted to bracket extension (20) which is part of a catch mechanism reacting to sudden decelerations of the vehicle. The bracket extension has an angled shape and a slot (28) allowing slight sliding movement of the bracket on the plug (24). The end of the bracket (20) is fitted with lugs (16, 18) extending to both sides of the bracket surface and working together with teeth (14) on the catch rail (8). Between lugs (16, 18) and lug (24) a third lug (30) is fitted on the bracket pointing towards the seat (3) and working together with a leaf spring (34) so that with no load conditions the spring (34) keeps the bracket in its lowest posn. with lugs (16, 18) out of engagement with teeth (14).</p> |
